Our brief was to design a contemporary garden to complement the modern architecture of the house. The garden was to have a calm, peaceful atmosphere with zones for sitting and outdoor dining. A simple palette of hard landscaping materials is softened with textural, mostly evergreen planting, selected to give year-round interest. The Corten watertable introduces movement and sound to a calm sitting area with a fire pit, screened with upright oak sleepers and soft ornamental grasses. A choice of sitting areas gives the opportunity to take in a different views of the garden and follow the sun as it traverses the day - a place for a morning coffee and a place for evening G&Ts.
